School Holiday Trip – Cameron Highlands

Posted: June 13, 2010 in Family Time

Second time taking the Kids there.

Left the Residence around 10am.

On the Way to Cameron Highlands, stopped by at Sungkai – FELDA Residence Hot Spring & Spa. RM10 for adult, RM8 for Kids.

Went in so that the Kids could play at the man-made pool (cool, not hot).

May throughly enjoyed herself going at the water slides. Sarn tried it once, got his hair wet, and didn’t go for the seconds! Jern refused to try, and stayed at the shallow end frolicking in the water.

Aba and Ama waited for the Kids while they played, at the pool side, enjoying coffee and burgers.

Then the Family explored the rest of the Hot Spring and Spa.

Saw the Egg boiling Hot Spring but didn’t try the eggs.

Tried out a few Hot Spring pools. Some were too hot. Finally found one that was just warm. Kids had a go. Then it was back to the ‘cool’ pool with slides!

In the afternoon, the Family continued the journey to Cameron (via Tapah).

After a long – winding drive up the mountain, finally reached Tanah Rata.

1st stop was ‘BOH Tea Garden and Tea Centre’. It was raining, but the Kids braved the shower to have a spot of tea, strawberry tarts and chicken pie!

Then it was off to the Strawberry Farm.

Unfortunately, the Pluck Yourself Strawberries were not available. Apparently the school holidays had seen too many visitors, who had plucked the berries to ‘Off Season’!

Aba bought everyone a Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream Sundae instead.

Around 5:30pm, the Family reached Mrs Ng’s Farmhouse, where we supposed to ‘homestay’.

Kids happy – immediately got to dig up baby carrots and explore the Farm.

Mrs Ng had build a new house (for 3 families) to be able to accept more guests since the Family was last here more than 2 years ago.

Rested till 6pm, then went to Brinchang town for a steamboat dinner.

There was a terrible jam, as there was a Pasar Malam going on.

After dinner, the Family strolled the Pasar Malam.

There was all kinds of foodstuff for sale – grilled meats, fried meatballs, noodles, grilled corn-on-cob, ‘fried’ strawberry ice cream, strawberry chocolate fondue etc.

Bought supper to take back to Mrs Ng’s.

Also bough GIANT strawberries!

After supper, went to sleep.

Next morning, the Family had a light breakfast at the Farmhouse.

Then we walked across the road to another farm – to pluck strawberries!

Kids delighted to be able to pluck so many large, ripe berries!

Ate a few while plucking-fresh!

Also saw many other types of vegetables…

…and bought some sweet corn before leaving.

Then it was off to a proper breakfast at Brinchang (soup noodles).

Rain started and it was a long slow drive (heavy jam) to the vegetable market for Ama’s last minute shopping (left Aba and Kids in car waiting).

On the drive down the mountain (towards Ipoh), stopped by at Cameron Barat Tea Valley for a strawberry tart break.

Kids strolled through the tea plants farm…

Late lunch was yet again at Sungkai – the famous Pork Knuckles at Kedai Makanan Choy Kee.

Reached home 6:30pm.

Rested a while and went to the neighbor’s baby’s full moon party.
