So the Kids were playing ‘masak-masak’, and came to take ‘order’ from Ama – fish & chips with egg.

Apparently, the English Story Competition at the kindy on 18 Oct in which May participated did in fact have winners!
May got 3rd place!
Surprising as she was not yet fluent in the language and only told a short story compared to the much older candidates.
Aba rewarded her with a present, which she picked herself – a Ladybird book.
May participated in the schools competitions representing her class 2 categories: singing as part of a duo; and English story telling.
Ama went to great length for the story telling.
The story was entitled ‘The Greedy Hippo’. So Ama made a Hippo hat and a cardboard hippo face that was slung over the shoulder.
This was in addition to the props the class teacher provided.
Incidentally, May’s class was the only one that gave their representatives (3 of them) props in the kindy.
Unfortunately, there was no placing for the ‘competition’.
Apparently, this was a ‘everyone’s a winner’ type of event. All participants got ‘prizes’.
It was all over by noon.
Family went for lunch at the nearby Yong Tao Foo, before going home..
